Central PSU executives stage demo

HYDERABAD: Executives of Central public sector undertakings staged lunch-hour demonstrations here on Tuesday seeking to focus attention to their long-pending demands.

Members of the officers' associations in establishments like the Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Heavy Electricals and its R&D wing, Electronics Corporation of India, Bharat Dynamics, Midhani and Bharat Sanchar Nigam staged their protest.

Major demands

The demands include merger of 50 per cent DA with basic pay, removal of income-tax on perks and ceiling on gratuity, parity with government employees in matters of taxation, re-classification of cities and fixation of HRA based on the 2002 Census, guidelines for recognising officers' asociations and a halt to disinvestment of profit-making PSUs.

P. Padmanabha Rao, circle secretary, Sanchar Nigam Executives' Association (India) said on Monday evening, they had been called for a meeting in New Delhi.
