HYDERABAD: Fire broke out in a five-storied commercial complex housing the Chandana Brothers cloth stores and Sai Kamala Hospital at Dilsukhnagar on Tuesday night. None was injured as the shop was closed at that time and patients of the hospital were evacuated immediately, the Malakpet police said. The cloth store was located on the first three floors on the front side and the remaining space was occupied by the hospital. Around 10.35 p.m., smoke began emanating from the readymade garments wing of the shop located on the third floor. Tension mounted as thick clouds of smoke began spreading around the hospital. Locals alerted the police who pressed into service four fire tenders.
Patients shifted
The hospital management shifted all patients to nearby buildings. The cloth store shutters were opened and it took firemen 40 minutes to locate and check the spread of fire.
370 automen booked
The drive against autorickshaws continued on Tuesday with the special teams booking as many as 370 cases against the auto drivers. The cases were booked for tampered meters, demanding excess fare and other offences under the Motor Vehicle Act like driving without a license and a permit. RTA Joint Transport Commissioner Venkateswarulu said that 10 teams have been formed for the special drive against the autos. The special teams comprise Inspectors from the Transport department, Traffic Police and Legal Metrology Department.
Police hunt for trickster
The West Zone police are on the lookout for a person who allegedly duped a jewellery shop owner of gold ornaments worth Rs. 40,000 with fake bank cheque at Aghapura in Mangalhat five days ago. The same accused had reportedly duped a private firm employee of Rs. 50,000 when he went to City bank at Greenlands to deposit the money on November 12. The jewellery shop had a concealed camera in which the photos of the accused were captured. "On seeing those photos, the private firm employee confirmed that the same person duped him," the police said. The stranger took a house on rent at Aghapura by giving a cheque for Rs. 27,000 towards advance. Later, he ordered for jewellery worth Rs. 40,000 from the Anmol Jewellery shop located at Basheerbagh and asked the shop owner to deliver the same at his house. Here too he gave a cheque that turned out to be a fabricated one.
