BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents was hacked to death by an armed gang in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Tuesday night. Police said that around 11 p.m., a gang allegedly led by Kumar attacked Sampath Kumar (30) with swords and choppers, killing him instantaneously. One of Sampath's accomplices was injured in the attack that occurred near the Kurubarahalli water tank. The Basaveshwaranagar police have registered a case.
Man kills son, self
A man allegedly smothered his four-year-old son to death and later committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Sanjaynagar police station limits on Tuesday. Police gave the names of the dead as Dinesh Shetty (47) and Yeshwanth (4). Police said Shetty, a resident of AECS Layout, had financial problems. Shetty, who was working in Dubai, returned four months ago. His wife Leela, who had gone for cooking classes in Richmond Town, came home around 6 p.m. and found her son lying unconscious on the floor. She rushed him to a hospital where the boy was declared brought dead, police said. On returning home, Leela found her husband's body hanging from a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The police suspect that Shetty could have smothered Yeshwanth with a pillow. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case.
House burgled
Thieves broke into the house of Kaushik in Jyothinagar in Hennur police station limits on Monday night and made away with Rs. 50,000 in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs. 75,000.
