A star and a cause

Chennai:
"Use condoms; it will save your life," says Salman Khan. Making a special appearance at an AIDS awareness event here recently, the Bollywood filmstar, known as much for his generosity as his brushes with the law, said he would be happy if his contribution to the cause saved even one life.
Asked to comment on the controversy regarding Kushboo's remarks, Salman said he did not know anything about the issue. "Many things are considered wrong in our culture. Smoking is wrong. Drinking is wrong. You can't control anybody; it's their life." When he was told that the actress's comments given in response to a poll on AIDS awareness had been turned into a moral issue, the actor shrugged and said, "Then I'm a virgin."
Later on backstage, the actor in his usual flamboyant style self, Salman declared dramatically: declared, "I looooove Kushboo!"
