Rain likely in

north coastal T.N.

CHENNAI: The cyclonic storm over southwest Bay remained practically stationary and lies centered at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday at about 450 kilometres east southeast of Chennai. It is likely to intensify further and move in a west northwesterly direction and cross north Tamil Nadu-south Andhra coast between Chennai and Machilipatnam by afternoon of Thursday. Rainfall occurred at many places over Lakshadweep.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt) 6, Kozha (Kottayam dt) 5, Thiruvananthapuram Airport 4, Thiruvananthapuram 3, Thuckalay (Kanyakumari dt) and Agathi Airport 1 each.

Forecast (Valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over rest Tamil Nadu, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over coastal and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 48 hours.
