Calicut triumphs
THRISSUR: Calicut University regained the South Zone inter-university football title after a nine-year break at the Veterinary College ground on Wednesday.
Calicut forced Kerala, the national varsities champion, to a 1-1 draw in the concluding match of the semifinal league today and finished on top of the table with seven points. Kerala finished runner-up with five points, while Kannur (4) and MG (Kottayam) took the next two positions.
The results (league): Calicut 1 (Prince Paulose 49th) drew with Kerala 1 (Michael Dias 48th); Kannur 5 (Sreekanth 18th, 44th, 74th & 78th, Praveen 80th) bt Mahatma Gandhi, Kottayam 2 (Javed 10th, Binoy 24th). Principal Correspondent
