Yuvaraj rallied to beat Rajwane Shankar 8-7 to move into there third round of the boys' under-18 event in the Mahila Seva Samaj's State ranking tennis championship at the MSS courts here on Wednesday. Vinod Gowda, who had earlier won the under-12 singles title in the AITA Talent Series here, beat Yatish Anand 8-2 and the hard-hitting Sujith Sachidanand, who was out of circuit for a while, made a welcome return as he outplayed S. Bhaskar beats Ajay
Former state champion B. Bhaskar, with two century breaks, outplayed youngster Ajay Bushan 1404-392 in the Super league of the State-ranking billiards tournament at the McDowell Hall of the KSBA here on Wednesday. Bhaskar had breaks of 190 (21st visit) and 112 (23rd), and a 94 in the 28th visit to cruise to his third win in the super league. G. Kishore Kumar had a 967-578 victory over Kiran Chawla while D. Rajkumar trounced Mod Arshed 1110-614 and Arvind Savur looked tentative in his 915-694 win over Sunil Sharma.
MSRIT in final
M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology entered the final of the M.S. Ramaiah inter-engineering colleges cricket tournament with an eight-wicket victory over BMS College of Engineering here on Wednesday . Put into bat, BMSCE, despite a good knock of 86 by Pawan Gargi, could make only 168 for nine in 36 overs. Later, Shrikar Saini (62) and Vijay Karthik (53) guided MSRIT to victory. The scores: BMSCE 168 for nine in 36 overs (Pawan Gargi 84) lost to MSRIT 171 for two in 22.2 overs (Shrikar Saini 62, Vijay Karthik 53).
