Sasikiran wins

NEW DELHI: K. Sasikiran pulled off a brilliant tactical combination to gain a minor piece and won the first game of the second round encounter against Russia's Sergei Rublevsky in the World Cup chess tournament at Khanty Mansiysk in Russia on Wednesday.

Sasikiran's victory in this Queen's Gambit Accepted game came in just 31 moves on a day when top seed Vassily Ivanchuk, eighth seed Teimur Radjabov and P. Hari Krishna were among the surprise losers.
