Six hurt as RTV overturns

NEW DELHI: Six people, including a three-year-old boy and four women, were seriously injured after the RTV vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Kanjhawla in North-West Delhi on Wednesday.

According to the police, incident occurred around 10 a.m. when the RTV overturned near Madhuban Chowk. The injured, identified as Rahul (3), Jyoti (25), Sunita (30), Rani (28), Virmati (50) and the vehicle driver, Ombir (29), were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

While Sunita and Rani, who had sustained head injuries, were kept under observation, others were discharged after treatment.

CBSE clarifies

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that only the ancillary records of old students are being weeded out and that students who have passed their Class X and XII in the year 2003 or earlier will still be able to get their certificates and mark sheets in case of need.

"The permanent records such as tabulation registers on the basis of which duplicate marks statements and certificate are issued are intact and the duplicate marks statements and certificates can be issued any time on demand of the general public,'' said the CBSE.

Rally by the blind

NEW DELHI: Members of the National Federation of the Blind took out a rally at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday to demand protection of rights of the disabled, particularly the visually challenged.

Complaining that the Government was not doing enough to address the problems faced by the visually challenged, the National Federation of the Blind said despite its repeated requests no reservation had been provided to them in the Railways. The Federation has now sought an audience with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

AAI record profit

NEW DELHI: In the financial year 2004-05 the Airports Authority of India earned its highest-ever revenue and profit since its inception in 1995. It earned Rs. 2,999.66 crores while its profit after tax stood at Rs.325.38 crores.

AAI Chairman K. Ramalingam presented a cheque for Rs.71.32 crores to Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Earlier, AAI had paid an interim dividend of Rs.12 crores for the last fiscal.

Public relations festival

NEW DELHI: A three-day "International Public Relations Fesitval-2005" organised by the Public Relations Society of India will begin at India Habitat Centre here on Friday.

The festival, focusing on "Quest for Leadership - Role of Public Relations", will be addressed by speakers from the US, Britain, South Africa, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
