Condom vending boxes to be set up in Kurnool

KURNOOL: Now condoms are only a coin-insertion away in Kurnool city!

The Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society and Hindustan Latex Limited will install 100 condom vending boxes at various places in the city. In the first phase, the boxes were installed at Hyderabad and in the next phase at Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam. In the present round, 100 boxes each would be installed at Kurnool and Chittoor. Buyers can collect a pack of three pieces after inserting a five-rupee coin. The vending box costing Rs. 8,000 was being shared by the society and HLL. The box will be placed in the custody of nearest shop-keeper who gets a commission of Re. 1 on each box. Collector Vikas Raj is likely to unveil the box at the Collectorate on Thursday as part of the measures by the administration to set the campaign in motion against AIDS.
