Court relaxes bail conditions of Sundaresa Iyer, Raghu

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: B ail conditions imposed on M.K. Raghu and N. Sundaresa Iyer, accused in the Sankararaman murder case and the Radhakrishnan assault case, have been relaxed by the Madras High Court.

It had granted them bail on May 31 and asked Mr. Raghu to stay in Coimbatore and Mr. Iyer at Villupuram and sign every day in the local police station. On August 8, the court modified the conditions and asked them to stay in Chennai and sign at the Thousand Lights Police Station twice a week.

After complying with the orders for two months, they moved a petition to dispense with all bail conditions. Justice S. Sardar Zackria Hussain allowed the plea and relaxed the conditions.

While Mr. Iyer was arrested on December 24, 2004, Mr. Raghu was held on December 30, 2004 in connection with the September 3, 2004 murder of Sankararaman. Their detention, along with nine others under the Goondas Act, was quashed by the court on May 5.
