Correction:
With reference to the report "Man killed in freak accident" published on page 3 on Wednesday, Nov. 30 edition, the Coast Guard Region (East) stated in a press release that: "The Coast Guard helicopters have not been operating in the area concerned and hence the death is not due to the dropping of food package during Coast Guard relief operations."
The newspaper had reported that a man who had been injured on Saturday by food packets dropped from a helicopter in Cuddalore had succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday in Chennai's Government General Hospital.
Helicopters of various defence agencies had been pressed for relief operations in the State.
