Islamabad: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Thursday said the acquittal of its leader Benazir Bhutto in a corruption case proved the political nature of accountability under President Pervez Musharraf. Judge Parkash Lal Ambawani of the Accountability Court in Karachi on Wednesday acquitted the former Prime Minister and four others in a case of corruption in appointments to state carrier Pakistan International Airways (PIA), saying the prosecution failed to establish charges against the accused. The party is confident that Ms. Benazir would also be acquitted in all other trumped up cases against her, he said. Ms. Bhutto, heading the PPP from self exile, still faces a number of charges of corruption and misrule. She and her husband Asif Zardari are facing several charges in Pakistan and abroad, including one in Geneva. PTI
