Chennai: India Cements Ltd. will be the title sponsor for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) benefit match to be played here at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on December 8. The tie will witness the best players from India, Pakistan, Holland, Germany, Australia and Spain the top six who will be here to participate in the Champions Trophy who will help to raise funds in aid of the victims of the earthquakes that rocked parts of India and Pakistan in October. Responding to a request from the FIH nominee for conducting the match in a fitting manner and reflecting the concern of the hockey community, N. Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, India Cements, who has been elected treasurer of the BCCI, offered to take up sponsorship. The FIH has set a target of at least $10,000 (Rs. 4.5 lakhs). The India Cements Group has agreed to donate the sum to the FIH President, Ms. Els van Breda Vriesman, who will be in the city on that day. Details of the tie, which will be shown live on TEN Sports, are still being worked out. Hockey Correspondent
