ANANTAPUR: A messenger of Town Cooperative Bank at Tadipatri on Thursday dared an attack by two assailants to safeguard Rs. 1.25 lakhs amount of the bank. He was admitted to the Government Hospital there with serious injuries. According to the police, Nagasubbaiah, messenger of town bank, was sent to the DCCB branch there by his superiors to get Rs. 1.25 lakhs amount after withdrawing it from the town bank's account. He was attacked by two motorcycle-born youth, when he was returning with the cash stashed in a bag and kept on the carrier of his bicycle at the Ashoka Pillar. The assailants attacked him with a cricket bat. However, Nagasubbaiah held on to the cash bag even as he fell to the ground. The assailants fled from the scene as the onlookers started gathering there before they could snatch the cash bag.
