Army's para motor sailors land in Bangalore

Their Kashmir-Kanyakumari expedition will end on December 10

BANGALORE: While six para motor sailors, who are on a Kashmir-Kanyakumari expedition were on their way to land in Bangalore, the Tornados of the Army Supply Corps (ASC), Bangalore, enthralled the audience with a range of motorcycle stunts here on Thursday.

The occasion was an Aero-Adventure display on the eve of landing of India's first Para Motor Expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari launched by the Army Parachute Regiment and sponsored by Candyman of ITC Foods and ITC Infotech.

The Tornados, lead by Anurag Malhotra, displayed group stunts, including Roman Salute, Seat Jimmying, Fish Position, Rear foot-rest standing balance, before displaying individual stunts such as seat salute and tank salute.

Then it was the turn of breaking a wall of bricks followed by a wall of tube lights.

A stunning fire jump by Capt. Malhotra held the audience spell-bound.

These stunts were followed by stunning group stunts, such as pyramid formation, ladder riding and lotus formation.

Motorcycle stunts were followed by a display of powered hand gliding by Mohan Kutty of the Indian Navy and Pai of Aerosports Society of India. Manufactured in Bangalore, the powered handgliders can sail over 300 km with a fuel tank capacity of 70 litres.

Apart from various formation displays in the sky, Commander Kutty and Dr. Pai glided very close to the runway offering the audience a close look at powered gliding.

Then it was the time for landing of the six para motor sailors, who had their previous stopover at Secunderabad.

The expedition began on October 21 and will culminate at Kanyakumari on December 10 after having made stopovers at Pathankot, Jalandhar, Chandighar, Meerut, Agra, Kampte, and Secunderabad.

Commenting on the expedition, Ravi Naware of ITC Ltd., Food Business, said, "It gives us immense pride to be a part of this prestigious and unique attempt by the Indian Army. Candyman is thrilled to showcase this adventure as an inspiration for today's youth to scale new heights."
