Isolated heavy rain likely in north coastal T.N.

CHENNAI: Latest satellite cloud imageries and Radar observation indicate that the cyclonic storm over southwest Bay remained practically stationary and lies centred at 0830 hrs.

IST of 1st December 2005 at about 400 kilometres east southeast of Chennai. It is likely to intensify further and move in a west northwesterly direction and cross extreme north coastal Tamil Nadu - south coastal Andhra Pradesh between Chennai and Machilipatnam by the early morning of 3rd December 2005. Rainfall occurred at a few places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamilnadu and Kerala. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Belgaum Airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 12{+o} Celsius in the plains of the region.

Forecast (Valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over rest Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over coastal and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.

Strong Wind Warning: Strong winds with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely along and off remaining districts of north Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry coasts.
