UDV's Rajesh bags a double

TIRUCHI: C. Rajesh of UDV HSS, Tiruchi, won the 800m and 2000m final at the second district- level inter-school competitions here at the Anna Stadium.

Railway MHSS `A' wins

Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School `A' won the hockey final in the boys' section defeating Khajamian Higher Secondary School 2-0 at the second district-level inter-school competitions here at the Anna Stadium.

Earlier in the semifinals, Railway Mixed HSS `A' got the better of Railway Mixed HSS `B' and Khajamian HSS downed Campion Anglo-Indian HSS, both by two goals.

The title in the girls' section too went to Railway Mixed HSS, which inflicted a solitary-goal defeat on Holy Cross Higher Secondary School.

Dirt track championship

The fifth and final round of the Gulf Dirt Track National championship will be held on Dec. 3 and 4 at the Golf Club Ground, in Nashik. There is a separate ladies class. The TVS Team, with its star riders, C.S. Santosh, C. Vijay Kumar, Syed Shabir, will be the highlight of the event.

Good show by Sneha

D.V. Sneha of Tamil Nadu defeated Saptapurni of Bengal 3-0 in the table tennis final of the 31st National Sports Festival for women at Bhopal recently. Tamil Nadu won the team event defeating Punjab 3-0 in the summit clash.

Other results: Team event: Doubles (final): Tamil Nadu bt Punjab 3-0. Semifinals: Tamil Nadu bt Uttranchal 3-1; Punjab bt Bengal 3-1.

Singles (semifinals): D.V. Sneha (TN) bt Ria Das Gupta (Ben) 3-1; Sapthapurni (Ben) bt Anu (Pun) 3-1.

Doubles (final): Ria Das Gupta & Mousmi Sanyal (Ben) bt D.V. Sneha & Nishanthi Kumaravel (TN) 3-0.
