Job scheme for disabled planned

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government is planning to develop an employment generation scheme for the disabled, said Director of the Department of Welfare of the Disabled and Senior Citizens, V. Ashok Rao.

Mr. Rao said a proposal in this regard had been sent to the State Government.

The department, he said, planned to earmark Rs. 25 lakhs for the project and was already in discussions with corporates to find out the skill sets that they require. The department will train people in the necessary skill sets.

On Saturday, which is observed as World Disability Day, the department is presenting awards to non-governmental organisations that have done commendable work.
