Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Ice House, Guindy, Ekkaduthangal and K.K.Nagar areas for maintenance work.

MTC services

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation has announced that the following services, High Court - Kelambakkam (21H); High Court - Kannagi Nagar S.C.Board (T21) and High Court Kannagi Nagar S.C.Board (S21), which were hitherto operated from the High Court bus terminus will be operated from the Broadway bus terminus beginning Thursday.

World AIDS day rally

As part of the World AIDS Day, the 1(TN) Medical Unit NCC conducted a rally under the guidance of Col. L.N. Agrawal, Officer Commanding, 1(TN) Medical Unit NCC. About 1,000 NCC cadets from different colleges and schools participated in the programme. The rally began from the Madras Medical College sports ground and passed through EVR Road, GST Road and Anna Salai before returning to the starting point. A workshop on AIDS awareness was also conducted by the Unit on the occasion, according to a release.

Bank centenary celebration

The centenary celebrations of Tamil Nadu State Apex Co-operative Bank was held last week. The bank has 42 branches in the city. The Villivakkam branch of the Bank on MTH Road completed 20 years.

Science exhibition

A two-day science exhibition was held at Vailankanni Mat. Higher Secondary School, Avadi, last week. T.Bhanumathi of St.Peter's Engineering College inaugurated the programme. A mini-planetarium was set up by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre at the exhibition venue.

Special trains

In view of the cricket Test match between India and Sri Lanka at MAC Stadium, Chepauk, Southern Railway will operate special trains on the Chennai Beach - Tirumaylai MRTS section from December 2 to 6.

The specials will leave Chennai Beach at 4.35 pm and reach Tirumayilai at 4.51 pm. In the return direction they will leave Tirumayilai at 4.40 pm and reach Beach at 4.56 pm, according to a railway press release.

Traffic diversions for cricket match

Vehicles with passes and MTC buses will only be allowed on Wallajah Road from the T.H. Road and Wallajah Road junction till Kamarajar Salai for the first Cricket Test match from Friday to December 6.

Diversions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will be reversed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Entry to Bells Road will be from Wallajah Road with no access via Bharathi Salai. Entry from the side roads on to Bells Road is prohibited. Only vehicles with passes will be allowed on Bharathi Salai from Triplicane High Road up to Kamarajar Salai. Canal Road will have entry from Bharathi Salai with no entry from Wallajah Road.

Vehicles without passes from Mount Road should park at Anna Square, Government Estate, Pandian Thidal and Presidency College ground using Adams Road.

Those coming on Kamarajar Salai should park in Presidency College. No MTC buses will not be permitted on Wallajah Road from Kamarajar Salai
