Chennai-Howrah power traction completed

VISAKHAPATNAM:
Electrification of the Chennai-Howrah trunk rail route is now complete, and goods trains started operating from Tuesday, according to an East Coast Railway press release from Bhubaneswar.
After the inspection of the completed power traction works on the Bhadrak-Barang section on the trunk route, Commissioner of Railway Safety Balbir Singh (South-Eastern Circle) communicated the authorisation of introducing 25 kV AC electric traction as a regular measure.
Mr. Singh also cleared the commissioning of the electrified Rajathagarh-Kapilas Road-Nergundi sections, including the Radhakishorepur-Madhupur stretch on the Cuttack-Talcher branch lines.
