LUCKNOW: Over 45 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise during the by-elections to Aurai and Nagal (reserved) assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh which concluded on a peaceful note on Friday.
State Principal Secretary (Home) Alok Sinha here said. ``We have received not a single report of rigging or violence in both the constituencies'', Mr Sinha claimed. The State Government had deployed Central forces in all polling booths to maintain law and order and ensure free and fair polls. In view of unrest in eastern Uttar Pradesh following the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, security had been tightened in the Aurai assembly seat in Sant Ravidas Nagar district and the Nagal (reserved) seat in the Saharanpur
