`Government lax in developing city'

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The Capital City Development Forum has accused the State Government of laxity in demanding Special Economic Zone status for the developed areas in the first phase of the Technopark project. A press release issued by the forum here said the Commerce Ministry had approved only the second phase of Technopark as a Special Economic Zone. The companies coming under the first phase of the project have been left out owing to the Government's failure to press for the status, it said.

The forum alleged that the decision to shift the Global Education Meet and IT Meet to Kochi was taken under pressure from the hotel lobby.
