JAIPUR: Documentation of artefacts stored in 18 museums of Rajasthan will be completed by the end of January 2006 and the 118-year-old Albert Hall museum in Jaipur will be renovated to give it a new look in the next two years. This was decided at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here over the weekend, where the State Museum Management and Development Society made a presentation on the works taken up for conservation of ancient monuments and museums. The society's chairperson and Principal Secretary, Art and Culture, Ashok Shekhar, pointed out that documentation of nearly 77,000 artefacts lying in 18 museums had been started and would be completed by next month-end. He said the conservation work had been taken up as per the international standards. Mr. Shekhar said Rajasthan was the first State in the country that had successfully conserved all available artefacts. The proposals under the "adopt a monument'' scheme were sanctioned for the historic Hawa Mahal and the observatory near the City Palace in Jaipur at the meeting. The project for renovation of Albert Hall museum will be implemented over the next two years at a cost of Rs. 5 crores.
