Carol service in Thiruvalla

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Department of Sacred Music and Communications (DSMC) of the Malankara Mar Thoma Church organised a Christmas carol service at the Church auditorium in Thiruvalla on Saturday evening.

Mar Thoma Metropolitan Philipose Mar Chrysostom inaugurated the music fest. Inaugurating the music evening, Mar Chrysostom stressed the importance of Christmas carols in bringing happiness and social unity.

According to him, man loses protection from God when he begins to seek protection from various other elements, ultimately leading him to total darkness.

The very spirit and message of Jesus Christ is happiness, peace and love, and Christmas is the season of happiness.

Joseph Mar Ireneus Saffragan Metropolitan, Church secretary, K.M. Mammen, DSMC director, Sajan P. Mathew, vice-president, and others spoke.

A total 350 choir members belonging to different parishes of the Mar Thoma Church and the Church of South India in and around Thiruvalla presented their prayer songs on the occasion.
