PATHANAMTHITTA: A communal amity meeting convened by District Collector A.J. Rajan at the Collectorate conference hall here on Friday decided to ensure communal harmony in the district and avoid hartals and strikes that cause hardships and inconveniences to the general public. Addressing the meeting, representatives of various political parties and religious organisations assured that they would see to it that there was no incident that could affect the normal life in the district. The Collector said that the district police had been directed to deal with those who were found engaged in anti-social activities. Special care would be taken to check any attempt to create road block during the ongoing annual Sabarimala pilgrim season, he said. Additional District Magistrate T.V. John and Thiruvalla Revenue Divisional Officer N. Govindan Namboodiri also attended the meeting.
