Natwar requested visa for his son: ex-Iraqi envoy
New Delhi:
Former Iraqi Ambassador to India, Salah al Mukhtar, on Saturday said former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh had requested him for a visa for his son Mr. Jagat Singh in 2001 to visit Iraq as head of a Youth Congress delegation.
In an interview to NDTV, the former Ambassador said the visa was issued to Mr. Jagat Singh as head of a separate Youth Congress delegation to visit Iraq.
"Mr. Natwar Singh requested me to get a visa for his son saying `my son is a member of the Congress Party,' to go to Iraq for solidarity with the Iraqi people," Mr. Mukhtar said.
Separate visit
``Well, it was a separate visit by his son. He headed a youth delegation to meet the Iraqi Youth Federation,'' he said.
He said Mr. Jagat Singh came to the embassy alongwith two other people, saying they were also part of the Youth Congress delegation. He, however, said he did not remember who these two other people were. UNI
