Centuries by Arun and Krishna

HYDERABAD: Centuries by T. Arun (108, 12 x 4) and K. Krishna Chaitanya (101, 11 x 4) helped Johnson Grammar School to record a 224-run win against St. Patrick's High School in the Bro. John of God Trophy inter-school (U-13) cricket tournament here on Saturday.

The scores: HPS Ramanthpur 122 (Vamshi 31, Naresh 33, Abhay Shah three for 26) lost to All Saints 123 for eight.

Johnson Grammar HS 313 for five (T. Arun 108, K. Krishna Chaitanya 101) bt St. Patrick's HS 89 (Kirti three for 31, Srinath three for five).

Pallavi Model School 217 (Shantanoo 37, Ahmed six for 78) bt Chirec Public School 124 (Shantanoo four for 34).

St. Andrew's HS `A' 288 for two (N. Vinay Rao 93, B. Anirudh 63, G.H. Vihari 53 not out) bt St.Peter's HS 86 (Akash Bhandari five for 16).

SCR enters final

Artillery Centre and South Central Railway moved into the final of the C. Narsi Reddy memorial basketball tournament for seniors at RBVRR Hostel here. Artillery defeated State Bank of India 81-77 in the semifinal with Sukhbir Singh (24) being the top-scorer.

In the other semifinal, SCR outplayed BHEL 73-48.Nihal Yadav (17) top-scored for the winner.

Neha bags double

Neha Purohit of Andhra Pradesh bagged a double by winning the girls U-16 and U-14 singles titles in the AITA tennis tournament in Nasik on Friday, according to information received here. Neha, a trainee of the Sun-Jay Tennis Academy here, defeated Mokshada Jain of West Bengal 6-4, 6-4 in the U-16 final and later got the better of her Statemate Doondi Priya 6-3, 6-2 to win the U-14 title.

Holy Family in final

Holy Family Church defeated St. Bernard Church 3-0 in the semifinal of the Archbishop Marampuri Joji Challenge Cup football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here. Sujeet Kumar netted a brace and Rahul one for the winners.

In the other semifinal, St. Antony's Church scored a 3-0 win against St. Patrick's Church with Amba Raj recording a hat-trick.

BHEL (R & D) wins title

BHEL (R & D) won the third Inter-institutional hockey tournament with a 5-1 win against BHEL Ramachandrapuram here. Sashikanth struck twice in the second and 25th minutes and L. Janak Kumar in the 33rd and 50th minutes. N.D. Shiv Kumar scored the fifth minute. For the loser, the consolation goal came through Ravinder in the 40th minute. S.K. Goyal, General Manager, BHEL (R & D), gave away the prizes.

Veteran's tennis

The GVK-AITA veteran's national tennis tournament will be organised by AP Veteran's Tennis Association at SAAP Tennis Complex here from December 25.

"For the tournament the prize money has been increased from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.5 lakh by Mr.G.V.Krishna Reddy, chairman of GVK Group of Industries.'' Competitions will be held in age groups of 45, 55 and 65 and above years. The entries close on December 10 and details can be had on info@apstpa.net. The highlight of the tournament should be the entry of Balaiah from Tirupati, the oldest participant at the age of 87 years.

State senior badminton

Andhra Pradesh State senior badminton championship for men and women for T. Chandrasekhar Reddy memorial trophy will be organised at Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium from December 15 to 18. The State team for the 2006 February Nationals in Orissa would be picked based on the performances here.
