Protest against hike in airfare for Haj pilgrims

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State general secretary of Indian Union Muslim League P.K. Kunhalikutty has protested against what he described as the steep hike in airfare for Haj pilgrims from Kozhikode.

In a statement here on Saturday, he said the fare for flying from Kozhikode to Jeddah and back, which was Rs. 34,000 and with a validity of one year, had been jacked up to Rs. 38,500 within a month. The total fare, inclusive of tax, had gone up to Rs. 41,500.
