Keralite detainee to be released soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Sijo Jose of Kaduthurthy in Kottayam who was imprisoned by the U.S. Army while working in Iraq is expected to be released soon following the Prime Minister's intervention on a plea by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
An official press note on Saturday said Mr. Jose would be handed over to the Indian embassy in Baghdad within two days. Later, he would be brought to the Indian embassy in Kuwait, according to a communication sent to the Chief Minister's office by the First Secretary of the embassy. Mr. Jose was arrested by the U.S. Army on August 1 on charges of entering its restricted area and taking pictures with a computerised camera.
