Hari Krishna draws with Alexey Dreev

NEW DELHI: P. Hari Krishna drew with Russia's Alexey Dreev in 24 moves in the first game of the third round of the World Cup chess tournament in Khanty Mansiysk in Russia on Saturday. Hari will play black in the second game on Sunday.

In the day's longest game, lasting 85 moves, Norway's prodigious talent Magnus Carlsen played with black pieces and defeated Ivan Cheparinov, the Bulgarian who stunned top seed Vassily Ivanchuk in the previous round.

Mikhail Gurevich (Tur) drew with Alexei Shirov (Esp); Baadur Jobava (Geo) drew with Sergei Rublevsky (Rus); Loek van Wely (Ned) bt Teimur Radjabov (Aze).

Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukr) bt Xu Jun (Chn); Konstantin Sakaev (Rus) bt Sergei Tiviakov (Ned); Ivan Sokolov (Ned) lost to Vladimir Malakhov (Rus); P. Hari Krishna drew with Alexey Dreev (Rus).
