Kamal back after a stint of stunts in New York

"Vettaiyadu Vilayadu" first film to be shot in super 35 mm format The office of New York Mayor, Bloomberg, had given special permission

CHENNAI: Kamal Haasan is back in Chennai after a month's shooting for Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu in and around New York.

The 25-member unit of Gautham Menon along with cinematographer Ravi Varman worked overtime for 35 days and finished a major chunk of the movie. Vettaiyadu Vellaiyadu is the first Tamil film to be shot in super 35 mm format, a widescreen presentation. Scenes of the film were shot in Manhattan. They were also filmed in places where it had been hitherto forbidden such as the New York Fire Department Academy, where Kamal Haasan performed some daredevil stunts. The office of New York Mayor, Bloomberg, had given special permission.

Music director Harris Jayaraj, who went to New York with the crew, was reportedly inspired by the city to compose some captivating tunes. He also recorded a rap song in New York, which was filmed by Gautham with some vivacious American dancers. Another song sequence featuring Kamal and Jothika was filmed on Seventh Avenue and Times Square.

The film is about the adventure of an Indian Government agent trying to track down an international criminal. Producer Narayanan of Seventh Channel said: "The film dropped in my lap and I am really happy. After seeing its progress I am sure that it will be another feather in Kamal Haasan's cap."
