Revised proposal on flood damages sent to Govt.

Loss for Dharmapuri district put at Rs. 80 crores

Dharmapuri: The district administration has sent a revised proposal to the State Government on the flood damage to Dharmapuri district.

Under the revised estimates, the damages has been put at Rs. 80 crores, said the Collector, M. Chandrasekaran, here on Saturday.

He said that agricultural crops, irrigation and PWD tanks, highways and panchayat union roads, canals, huts and other properties near the Nagavathi dam, Panchapalli dam, Kumarichetti tank, Chinnampalli, Palacode, Pennagaram and Maarandahalli were severely damaged in the second spell of rain from November 22 - 26.

Report

A report on the extent of damage to crops and properties in the district had already been submitted to the Central team and the State Government.

Mr. Chandrasekaran said that a sum of Rs. 64 crores was required to repair highway and panchayat union roads; Rs. 2.60 crores to repair damages to canals, panchayat union and PWD tanks; Rs. 3.55 crores for housing and other properties; Rs. 3.50 crops for agricultural and horticultural crops; Rs. 1.62 crores for drinking water supply and Rs. 30 lakhs for carrying out repairs to damaged forest roads.
