`Manjunath's sacrifice a beacon of light'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting was held at the Police Training College under the auspices of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to pay homage to Manjunath Shanmugham, a young Indian Institute of Management (IIM) graduate who was killed by miscreants allegedly employed by a Indian Oil dealer in Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh., recently.

Manjunath had been posted by Indian Oil Corporation at Gorakhpur. Manjunath confronted a few dealers in the area who were engaged in large-scale adulteration of diesel and had to pay for it with his life.

Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau director Upendra Verma said Manjunath had given his life in the battle against corruption.

The youth's sacrifice was a beacon of light for all, especially those working in the bureau, he added.

Senior police officials, including Sibi Mathew, Additional Director General of Police, were present.
