Staff Reporter
GUNTUR : The Supreme Court and the High Court have accorded permission to set up a Lok Adalat Circuit Bench at Guntur very soon. Letter permitting the district court to set up the bench was received on an application made by district Judge A.P. Bhanja Deo. The district Judge told reporters after a Lok Adalat on Saturday that the bench would be launched in the presence of some Supreme Court and High Court Judges. The main motive behind setting up the bench was to settle compensation amount of Rs.3,000 per acre to about 15,000 farmers of Mangalagiri mandal, who were `cheated' by some companies through supply of fake cotton seed. These farmers can directly come to the bench and lodge their petitions saving time and money on litigation, Justice Bhanja Deo said. This will deal with the payment of compensation to the legal heirs of Delta Passenger accident victims.
