Youth stabbed to death

BANGALORE: A 22-year-old youth was stabbed to death by a five-member gang in Subramanyapura police station limits on Friday night.

The police gave the name of the victim as Madhusudhan, a resident of Doddakallasandra. The police said that around 8.15 p.m. five persons attacked Madhusudhan and his friend Sudarshan while they were standing near a bakery at Doddakallasandra bus stand.

While Madhusudhan, who was stabbed in the chest, was killed on the spot, Sudarshan escaped with injuries, the police said.

The Subramanyapura police, who have registered a case.

They are on the lookout for Govinda, Jeethu, Lingaraj and two others who allegedly attacked Madhusudhan and his friend.

While it is said that the murder was a result of political rivalry in regard to the ensuing panchayat elections, the police did not confirm it.

Woman murdered

Suspecting his wife's fidelity, a man allegedly hacked his wife to death at Yelachavadi village in Kanakapura taluk of Bangalore Rural district on Friday.

The police said that around 4 p.m. Muttaiah, an agriculturist, attacked his wife Rathnamma (23) with a chopper, killing her instantaneously. The Harohalli police have registered a case and arrested Muttaiah.

Man killed

Ravindra (52) was killed when a Bangalore Mahangara Palike lorry hit his scooter on Hosur Road, off HTMT call centre, around 3 p.m. on Friday. The police said Ravindra worked as a sales executive with a private firm. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case.

Recovered

The Bharathinagar police arrested Anand (21) of J.C. Nagar on charges of burglary and recovered from him gold ornaments, electronic goods and home appliances, together worth Rs. 3 lakhs.

The police said Anand had burgled eight houses in Bharathinagar, Fraser Town, Shivajinagar, MICO Layout, Kengeri and Mandya East police station limits. In another case, the Chamarajpet police arrested Ayub Khan (45) of Tipunagar on charges of theft and recovered from him gold ornaments, a motorcycle and mobile phones, all worth Rs. 1.25 lakh.

Pirated VCDs seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Friday raided three shops on S.P. Road and seized 5,179 pirated VCDs, DVDs and MP3s, all worth Rs. 7.50 lakhs. The police said the seized discs are of English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies, for which T-Series owned the copyright. The police arrested the proprietors of the three shops.
