Rain in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Government is faced with the challenge of restoring normalcy in a State devastated by rain and floods. But its task does not end with demanding enhanced Central assistance.

The Government should ensure that relief reaches all the victims.It should also involve other political parties in the effort.

It is hoped that people will have learnt how dangerous it is to encroach on lakes and riverbeds for construction activity. Rain or no rain, irrigation systems, drainage and road networks should be maintained in good repair.

That rain and floods hit Tamil Nadu just before the Assembly polls seems to have made all the political parties in the State sit up and show a keen interest in relief and reconstruction work. How one hopes they show the same zeal and zest whenever there is a contingency.
