Pondicherry: New Justice Party chief A. C. Shanmugham has called upon the Central Government to sanction Rs. 10,000 crores for Tamil Nadu to meet the situation arising out of the unprecedented floods in several parts of the State. Addressing newsmen here on Saturday after meeting Pondicherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy he said the Centre should also sanction Rs. 500 crores for the Union Territory which was also battered by heavy rain during the last three weeks or so. Mr.Shanmugham said the question of working out an alliance with like-minded parties would be decided at the time of the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. He said he had sought Mr. Rangasamy to include Agamudayars, Tuluva Velalars, Sengunthars, Soziha Velalars and Senaithalaivars communities in Pondicherry in the list of Most Backward Classes. Pondicherry unit president S. Ponnurangam accompanied Mr. Shanmugham during his meeting with the Chief Minister.
