Platinum jubilee session

Pondicherry: The two-day 75th annual session of the National Academy of Sciences India will be held in collaboration with Pondicherry University here on December 8 and 9, a release from the Public Relations Officer of the University N. Arunagiri said here recently.

Around 400 distinguished scientists and researchers from across the country would participate in the meet to be held in the Cultural-cum-Convention Centre of the university at Kalapet near here.

Lt. Governor M.M. Lakhera, who is also Chief Rector of the university, would inaugurate the meet.

The Chairman of National Commission on Farmers, Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, would present the platinum jubilee address on "Shaping our Genom Future" and the President of the Academy, Prof. V.P. Kamboj, would speak on "Traditional medicine: an opportunity for India."

There would also be a number of memorial Award lectures, invited talks and presentation of papers in the sessions relating to physical and biological sciences.
