Pondicherry: With the Tamil Nadu government informing the Public Works Department of Pondicherry that around 3,500 cusecs of water would be released from the Veedur dam in the neighbouring district of Villupuram around 11 p.m on Sunday, the Sankarabarani river in Villianoor block would be getting copious flow, an official source said. Villagers living close to the Sankarabarani river in Nonankuppam, Kottamedu and a few other villages in the vicinity of Villianoor have been alerted against possible flood situation and were asked to move to safer places.
