A bid to enter Guinness book

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A musician from Bangalore has made an attempt to better an existing record in the Guinness Book of World Records in performing "most concerts" in 24 hours.

The existing record is held by a South African music group comprising Adam Tas (Francois van der Merwe), Jaco Van Deventer and Daniel Roos, who have played 41 gigs in 24 hours at venues in and around Pretoria, South Africa, on May 5 and 6, 2005.

N. Karthik, a veena artist from Bangalore, claims to have performed 50 concerts between 9 a.m. on November 29 and 8.40 a.m. on November 30. Accompanied by N. Kumar on Mridangam and Narasimha Prasad on Khanjira, Mr. Karthik performed for a minimum duration of 15 minutes at various temple halls, community halls and music halls in and around Malleswaram in the city.

The event was sponsored by M.N. Krishnamurthy and was witnessed by eminent persons, musicians and public. It was video recorded and photographed to be sent to the Guinness Book of World Records for certification and listing.
