BANGALORE: Over 60 programmes, including Mushaira and Yakshagana, illustrating the rich cultural heritage of the country in different locations in the city, enthralled Bangaloreans on a leisurely Sunday amidst light drizzle. While the young and the old enjoyed various cultural events, it was schoolchildren who enjoyed the most through tennis ball cricket tournament, the finals of which was held on Sunday at the Madhavan Park Grounds in Jayanagar. Over 20 schools participated in this full-scale city tournament. The lovers of Urdu language enjoyed the day at the Mushaira held at Shivajinagar Grounds this evening. Similarly, for the lovers of the traditional folk art of the coastal districts, there was "Bhasmasura Mohini" Yakshagana presentation by Chittani troupe at Samsa Rangamandira. If these were for teens and adults, there was a splendid magic show for children in Cubbon Park by magician Nakul Jadugar and his team.
Fun for children
Bal Bhavan, the venue, was packed with children who had descended in numbers from different parts of the city. The rains played the spoilsport over the adventure sports. While street theatre presented a variety of street plays at eight locations, Geetha Chandran presented a splendid Bharatanatyam at JSS auditorium. There was Carnatic classical vocal recital to quench the thirst of music lovers by Nagavalli Nagaraj and Hindustani vocal concert by Shubha Mudgal at Ambedkar Bhavan.

Mimicry Dayanand and group left residents of Bangalore Southwest laughing by their humour at Balakrishna Ranga Mandira in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Apart from these, the old beauties attracted one and all in the Vintage Car Rally in Central Bangalore in the morning. Still ahead on Monday are various comedy plays by Master Hirannaiah, Yeshwant Sardeshpande, classical music and dance and much more at different places.
