3 killed in accident
Staff Reporter
GUNTUR:
Three persons were killed in a road accident on National Highway No.5 at Autonagar on the city outskirts around midnight when they were run over by a lorry after being hit by an autorickshaw.
The three were returning from a friend's son's marriage in Happy Home in Mangalagiri on Saturday night when an autorickshaw hit their two-wheeler on which they were riding triple. When the three fell on the highway opposite Autonagar, a lorry coming at high speed ran over them, as the driver could not apply the brakes immediately.
The Pedakakani police said the autorickshaw could not be identified and the lorry driver was absconding. No arrests have been made so far. While Gunti Arlayya, 50, and A. Krishna Reddy, 40, died on the spot, Adapala Sivaprasadu was taken to the Government General Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital, where he died in the early hours.
