New Delhi
As Bollywood's undisputed first family, they have literally lived by the "Jeena yahan... . marna yahan... ." line for years now. And this week, Delhi will be "Celebrating the Kapoors" in a rather special way. From Prithvi Raj Kapoor's unmatched screen presence to Raj Kapoor's power-packed performances, Shammi Kapoor's distinct charisma to Shashi Kapoor's charm and Rishi Kapoor's energy to Karisma and Kareena Kapoor's hold over the box office, it will be a walk down memory lane. Starting this Wednesday at India Habitat Centre, the festival, "Celebrating the Kapoors", will take off with Raj Kapoor's "Awaara", followed by Shakti Samant's "An Evening in Paris" on December 12. It will be time for a date with three generations of the Kapoors on December 13 with the screening of "Kal Aaj Aur Kal", directed by Randhir Kapoor and starring Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor himself. For those who have always wondered what kept this family together and still has it going, a peek into the lives of the Kapoors will be possible on December 16, with the Habitat Centre organising a special interaction with Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. The interaction will be followed by the screening of the 1941 release "Sikander" starring Sohrab Modi and Prithvi Raj Kapoor. While "Bobby" and "Junoon" will showcase the works of the Kapoors who dominated the 1970s and 1980s, the festival will end with the films of the Kapoor `khandaan' girls with the screening of Shyam Benegal's "Zubeida" and Sudhir Misra's "Chameli". -- Lakshmi B.
