White Doves to spread message of peace through programme from Friday

  • White Doves has conducted road shows for the past decade
  • Shows will be organised at the Bajpe bus station and Kinnigoli on Friday
  • More than 75 actors will participate in one-hour shows

MANGALORE: For the past decade, White Doves, a charitable organisation here, has strived to spread the message of peace and brotherhood by depicting the life of Christ through road shows. They are back this year, for the 11th show. White Doves will stage "The 2005-year-old fact in a mobile Act" in six places in and around Mangalore from Friday.

Corine Rasquinha, president of White Doves, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the organisation is involved in various humanitarian and social activities for the past 11 years. It is non-profit and secular organisation, and its various activities are handled by like-minded people who are interested in social service.

Ms. Rasquinha said the idea of depicting the life of Christ is to spread the message of peace, harmony and joy in the run-up to Christmas. The road shows will be organised at the Bajpe bus station and Kinnigoli on Friday, Sasthan junction and Kundapur in Udupi district on Saturday, and B.C. Road junction and Kadri Park on Sunday.

One-hour shows will be enacted by more than 75 actors on stages set up on three trucks. They will depict scenes of birth of Christ and send out a message on peace and brotherhood through songs and dance sequences, Ms. Rasquinha said. White Doves strives to spread a social message on an issue of relevance through the venture. This year's theme is "How to lead a life afresh after a mistake".

Ms. Rasquinha said the shows are free. "It has been our endeavour to spread the message of peace through road shows, and we have succeeded to a large extent. The members of White Doves manage the social work of the organisations through their own contributions,'' she added.
