KANNUR: A cache of country-made bombs and other weapons was unearthed from a suspected bomb-making unit at Narath here on Tuesday. The police seized the stockpile of country-made explosive devices and weapons from an uninhabited house at Narath on Tuesday morning. The arms seized included 20 powerful country-made `pipe' bombs, 12 ordinary country-made explosive devices and two axes. The police also found 10 first aid boxes in the house. These were unearthed during a raid by the Valapattanam police following a tip-off. The house located on the riverbank at Narath had been uninhabited for the last eight years. It was suspected to be a hideout being used for bomb-making. The police are conducting investigations. Kannur Dy. SP P. Bhuvanachandran and Valapattanam Circle Inspector T.P. Premarajan headed the police team that conducted the raid.
