Krishnaveni wins

VISAKHAPATNAM: International N. Krishnaveni of Srikakulam won the 48-kg category gold in the State weightlifting championships at the AU Assembly Hall here on Tuesday evening.

Another Srikakulam lifter, L. Rama Rao and G. Appala Raju of West Godavari claimed both the senior and junior titles in the 56 kg and 62 kg categories.

The results:

Senior men: 56kg: 1. L. Rama Rao (Srikakulam, 92 kg snatch, 126 kg clean and jerk, 218 kg total), 2. N.B.K. Reddy (EG), 3. N. Appala Raju (VSP). 62 kg: 1. G. Appala Raju (WG, 100, 139 and 239 kg), 2. N.R.K. Reddy (EG), 3. MAK Basha (VSP).

Juniors: 56 kg: 1. L. Rama Rao (SKLM, 92, 126 and 218 kg), 2. N.B.K. Reddy (EG), 3. N. Appala Raju (VSP). 62 kg: 1. G. Appala Raju (WG, 100, 139 and 239 kg), 2. S.V.P. Bapu Reddy (VSP), 3. M.V. Manikantha (WG).

Sub-juniors: 50 kg: 1. G. Kiran Kumar (Prakasam, 70, 97 and 167 kg), 2. M. Srinivasa Rao (VSP). 56 kg: 1. P. Ramesh Kumar (SKLM, 95, 110 and 205 kg), 2. I. Suresh Kumar (VSP), 3. Ch. Mallikharjuna Rao (Guntur). 62 kg: 1. M.V. Manikantha (WG, 98, 128 and 226 kg), 2. K. Suresh (Krishna), 3. D.V. Balaji (EG).

Senior women: 48 kg: 1. N. Krishnaveni (SKLM, 78, 90 and 168 kg), 2. M.D.L. Madhavi (EG), 3. G. Indu (VSP).

Juniors: 48 kg: 1. G. Indu (VSP, 58, 83 and 141 kg), 2. B. Usha (Vizianagaram), 3. K. Sailaja (SKLM).
