Brahmin forum to press for women's reservation

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Thamizhnadu Brahmin Association will highlight the demand for 33 per cent reservation for women in State Legislature and Parliament at its State conference, scheduled for December 25, in Chennai.

In a release here on Tuesday, the association said the conference would demand, among other things, proper representation to the Brahmins in all spheres of activities, including in the State Assembly and Parliament. It would call for reservation based on social and educational backwardness rather than on caste or religion. Twenty-five outstanding personalities would be honoured.
