Close on the heels of the unsuccessful move by private bus operators in Kannur district to stop issue of free bus passes to bus workers, a new problem has cropped up. The co-ordination committee off bus operators' associations in the district has split, with each faction claiming that the other has no right to issue passes. The split in the co-ordination committee has again brought the issue of pass to the fore. The breakaway faction of the co-ordination committee announced the other day that it would issue new bus passes. Pat came the response from the chairman of the committee that only bus passes issued by his committee would be accepted. If the war of words between the two committees continues, one can expect a more chaotic situation soon.
