Students' fashion design show draws crowds

Residents of Kozhikode love fashion just as their counterparts in other parts of the State. No wonder even an exhibition-cum-sale of design-related products organised by the fourth semester students of the B.Sc. Costume and Fashion Designing of the Calicut University on their campus here on Friday and Saturday attracted large crowds.

Students exhibited different types of items according to their tastes. Garments ranging from saris, salwar sets, t-shirts, knitwear and frocks, household accessories and varieties of vanity bags were displayed. " The exhibition is part of the three-year programme," said Hemalatha Menon, coordinator of the course.

She said that the public had been responding positively to the exhibitions since the inception of the annual event a few years go. This year the fourth semester students were assisted by the first and second semester students. They had been given full freedom to conduct the show, she added.
